Responding When Your Child Cries: A Waldorf Perspective
By Chinyelu Kunz with forward by Miss Belinda
I subscribe to Chinyelu Kunz’s The We Nurture Journal, a resource for parents, on Substack. I appreciate her wisdom and experience and her writing resonates with me both personally and professionally. Thus, I’d like to share this article with you. It’s a great resource not only for parents but for all caregivers of young children.
I especially appreciate
her thoughts re Step 4: Using Few and Simple Words – a challenging part in
practice, because as adults, we tend to be very wordy with young children when
talking less can often be more effective, especially when they are crying or
struggling. The younger the child, the fewer the words used is often wisest in
those moments.
Another thought I very much appreciate is Step 5: Holding the Boundary. All the steps she presents are very helpful in my work with children.
Enjoy!
